Zachary Allen Arner
Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003
Zachary Allen Arner was 20years old. On Thursday, October 9, 2003 an angel of mercy descended upon Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh and took Zach’s soul from its earthly dwelling place. He now sits at the right hand of the Father. He had battled a courageous fight with leukemia since March 12, 2003.
Zachary entered this world on September 7, 1983 in Pittsburgh. It was very overwhelming to hear Zach tell his Dad Alvin L. (Pete) Arner III and his mom Laurie Allen Brown how much he loved them. His best friend and closest ally was by far his big sister Kylene Arner. He loved to be at home with his step mom Renee Maxwell Arner and brother Ethan and sister Sophie, who were born in July. He is cherished and adored by his grandparents Roy and Rose Yanni Allen of East Liverpool and Ilene Newton of Leesburg, FL and The late Alvin L. Arner Jr.
His love of life was contagious and his passions were skateboarding, snowboarding and wakeboarding which he became very good at. He had traveled to the west and northeast seeking out snowboarding hot spots. He loved to camp with his friends and enjoyed many rounds of the Frisbee golf course. While at Westerville North High School in Columbus he was active as a coxan for Westerville Crew. His interests also included photography and rock climbing. Zach was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chester and had served as an altar boy. He served as his uncle Termite”s first mate for many hours boating on the river and at Summersville Lake, WV.
Also surviving are his uncles Jeff Allen and his wife Tracy, Scott Allen and his wife Denise, Doug Arner and his wife Jeannemarie Cox, Greg Arner and his wife Kellie and George Arner and his wife Wendy. In addition several cousins also survive, Collin, Jake, Grace and Olivia Arner and Emily Rose Allen and Matt, Hannah, Rebecca, Tara, Travis and Brandon.
Rev. Father Rodger Hughes was the celebrant for a moss of Christian Burial held on Monday, October 13, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Arner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society of America WV Chapter, 2 Gateway Center 13 N. Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
