Donald Mountford, 1134 hillcrest Rd, Wellsville, died Thursday at 6:15 in City Hospital, where he had been a patient since Monday. He was 56.
Mr. Mountford, custodian of Fairview School at Hillcrest until March 1, when he became ill, was born Nov. 2, 1901 in East Liverpool, a son of the late Samuel and Mary Elizabeth Brick Mountford. He spent the greater part of his life in East Liverpool and Wellsville and resided at Hillcrest for the past six years. He was employed as a serviceman for the D. M. Ogilvie & Co. store for several years until taking the school job about a year ago.
Mr. Mountford was a member of the First Methodist Church at Wellsville but had been attending the Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Wellsville Masonic Lodge ?.
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Leola Wickline Mountford, and a son, Robert Edward Mountford at home, and five sisters, Mrs. Nina Clark of Wellsville, Mrs. Nettie Hewitt of Springfield, Mrs. Ruby Kerr and Mrs. Aletha Stipe, both of Cleveland and Mrs. Helen Skipp of Youngstown.
The body was taken to the Mac-Lean Funeral Home in Wellsville, where Masonic rites will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Mac-Lean’s by the Rev. Richard Beidler, pastor of the Yellow Creek Church. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday afternoon and night at the funeral home.
