Wilbert L. (Wibb) Mercer, 73 who resided with a nephew, James Pederson of 3031 Ontario St., Columbus, died at the residence today at 6 a.m. following a seven-month illness..
He was born in Newell Oct. 1, 1901, a son of John T. Mercer and Eva Lee Mercer. He had resided in Congo before going to Columbus in August 1974. Mr. Mercer retired as a jiggerman at Plant 4 of the Homer Laughlin China Co. after 40 year’s service. He was a member of IBPAW.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Glenrose Dray Mercer, whom he married April 12, 1935, survivors include a son, Edwin L. Mercer of Newell, and a nephew Richard Pederson of Congo, whom the Mercers raised; a brother, Norman Mercer of Congo, and a sister, Mrs. Ray (Wilda) Reed of Toronto.
Services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery, Chester.
Friends may call Friday afternoon and night at the funeral home.
