LAURA CONKLE - Obit

East Liverpool Tribune

Miss Laura Conkle died at an early hour Tuesday morning (June 15, 1902) at the home of her brother, S. J. Conkle, at No. 289 East High street, at the age of 32 years, says the Salem News.

For six years Miss Conkle taught school in East Liverpool, where she was well known and esteemed. She was afflicted with cancer, and on April 15, although she was making every effort to keep up and complete her school term, she was obliged to go to Mercy hospital in Pittsburg, where an operation was at once performed upon her and a large cancer, removed from her breast. Four weeks ago the lady was able to come here and since that time has been tenderly cared for by her brother at whose home she died.

The exact cause of death is not known, the many physicians who were called upon to treat her differing somewhat in their diagonosis of the case. An autopsy was conducted over the body Tuesday morning.

The deceased is survived by two sisters and a brother, who reside at distant places, in addition to her father and a brother, S. J. Conkle, who live in this city. The remains were taken from this city Wednesday morning at 8:21 o'clock to Alliance. From that city they were shipped to Georgetown, Pa., where the deceased's mother is buried.
