Simon C. Knight, 60, of 342 Montana Ave., St. Cloud, Fla., formerly of 4479 Middletown Rd, New Middletown, was pronounced dead on arrival Tuesday at 4:27 p.m. at St. Cloud Hospital after taking ill suddenly.
A World War II Army veteran, Mr. Knight was born June 30, 1918, in Massillon, a son of William Knight and Nona Etta Orbaugh Knight.
He moved to St. Cloud eight months ago.
He was retired fire years ago as an inspector at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co.
Mr. Knight was a member of the Poland Center Community “Church.
In addition to his wife, Mrs. Jean Gilmore Knight, whom he married Dec. 26, 1941, survivors include two sons, Rodney Knight of New Middletown and Jeffrey Knight of Lakeland, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Sandra Stevens of Poland, Mrs. Carol Reese of New Middletown and Mrs. Audrey Hannis of Austintown; three brothers, Russell Knight of Alliance, Clifford Knight of Roland, and Kenneth Knight of New Middletown, seven sisters, Mrs. Viola Hatcher of Akron, Mrs. Mildred Kauffman, Mrs. June Barger, Mrs. Dorothy Felik and Mrs. Delores Heberling, all of New Middletown, Mrs. Edna McGath of St. Cloud and Mrs. Emma Barkley of East Palestine, and six grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home in East Palestine, by the Rev. Wayne E. Meadows of the Free Methodist Community Church in New Middletown. Burial will be in Glenview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
