Donald Ray Barnhart, Sr., 73, of RD #3, New Cumberland passed away Saturday, April 3, 2004 at the home of his daughter with his family by his side.
He was born April 9, 1930 in St. Marys, the son of the Robert and Rebecca Stewart Barnhart. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Franklin, Charles, Arthur, Dallas and William Barnhart and three sisters, Laverna Mae Barnhart, Eileen Hawken and Nellie Beaver.
He was retired from Crescent Brick Company where he was a maintenance leader with 32 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the occupation of Japan. He was a lifetime member of the FVW Post # 3526 and a member of the New Cumberland Free Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Dawson Barnhart, at home, two daughters, Judy (Charles) Delaney of New Cumberland and Rebeca (George) Decanio of Rogers, OH; two sons, Donald (Elizabeth) Barnhart, Jr. of Steubenville and Terry Barnhart of St. Marys; three sisters, Margaret (James) Gregory of Sistersville, Marylou (Herbert) Rice of Friendly, WV and Shirley (Leonard) Glover of Char-don, Oh; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Charles Thomas officiating. Military graveside services followed in the New Cumberland Cemetery.
