Iris Montrose ‘Monte’ Walker

EAST LIVERPOOL – Iris Montrose ‘Monte’ Walker, 94, formerly of West Fourth Street, died at 2:08 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Adkins Convalescent Center No. 1, where she was a resident, following a lengthy illness.
Born in East Liverpool March 3, 1909, daughter of the late Albert and Sarah Rebecca Van Dyne Dray, she was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
A life long city resident, she worked at Homer Laughlin China Co. at one time, and then worked along with her husband in the brush shop at the Milligan Hardware & Supply.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Her husband, Thomas A Walker Jr., whom she married April 26, 1929, died in 1986.
‘ A daughter, Mrs. Edward (joyce Jo-Ann) Wood of Buffton, S. C., and a son Thomas A. Walker III and his wife, Leonda, of East Liverpool survive.
There are seven grandchildren, Mrs. Jeff (Karen ) Zender of East Liverpool, Thomas A. ‘Tim’ Walker IV and his wife, Bea, of East Liverpool, Mrs. Terry (Annette) Null of Hilliard, Ohio, Barbara Ward of Calcutta, Mrs. Jerry (Mary) Deem of East Liverpool, Mrs. David (Michele) Guildoo of East Liverpool and Christopher Wood of Las Vegas.
There are 12 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Russell Dray of East Liverpool, and two sisters, Glennrose Mercer of Georgia and Betty Jane Rice of California also survive.
She was preceded by one sister, Gladys Pedeerson, and two brothers, Victor and Albert Dray Jr.
Friends may call today at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Fr. Bernard Gaeta will conduct services at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Immediately following burial, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
