Matthew Salsberry
Died June 12, 1999
EAST LIVERPOOL – Matthew Salsberry, 18, of Wooster Avenue, died at Approximately 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 1999, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Ada.
He was born in East Liverpool Nov. 16, 1980, a son of Sandra Setliff Salsberry of East Liverpool
A lifelong area resident, he graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1999. He was enrolled to attend Ohio Northern University in Ada this fall. He attended Campground Community Church. He was a three0year letterman in football.
A 32-game satter in football, he earned first team all-district honors for three years and honorable mention All-Ohio for three years. During his senior year, he was elected captain of the football team, was named to first-team All-OVAC, All-Quad County and first team All-County. He was to Paly in the Penn-Ohio and OVAC All-Star Game this summer. He was recently honored by the Northeastern Ohio Coaches Association as one of 20 players honored for their athletic and academic achievement. He was a four-year letterman in wrestling. He was a two-time Ohio Valley Athletic Conference wrestling champion placing fourth in Ohio in 1999. He was a four-year letterman in track, and he was the River Valley League Champion in the Discuss this year. He was a member of the National Honor Society and vice President to the senior class.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his grandparents, Donald and Audrey Setliff Sr. of East Liverpool; and his great-grandmother, Ruth Cannon of Ireland, W.Va
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at eh ELHS Fieldhouse. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery at 3 p.m.
Friends may call at the field house from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
The Dawson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
