John C. Abrams, 81, of Indiana Ave., Chester passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2004 at the East Liverpool City Hospital.
He was born May 19, 1922 in Georgetown PA, a son of he late Robert B. and Pearl E. Allison Abrams. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; two sisters, Leona and Unice Abrams and a brother, Thomas Abrams.
Mr. Abrams retired from the former National Steel in Weirton where he was a chemical engineer. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Chester where he served as an elder and on the Board of Trustees. He was a longtime member of the Chester Lions Club and a member of the National Steel 25 Year Club.
He is survived by two sons, Jay Abrams of Oklahoma City, OK and Huey Abrams of Chester, a daughter, Christina Snyder, her husband, Larry and daughter, Jessica, of Chester; a brother, Robert Abrams of Richland, WA; two sisters, Alberta Abrams of Chester and Mrs. Shirley Smith , her husband, Dennis of Cincinnati and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 1, 2004 at 12:30 p.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Trina Lewis officiating. The Arner Funeral Chapel assisted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Memorial Fund at the church.
