The Review
ROGERS – Services will be held Tuesday for Lois J. Curran, 57, of Clarkson Road, who died at 4:35 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, at City Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was born in East Liverpool July 25, 1941, a daughter of William Greenwood of Rogers and the late Betty Stype Greenwood.
She lived her life here and was a founding officer of the First National Community Bank in 1987. She currently held the position of vice president and senior lending officer and the compliance officer at the bank. Earlier, she worked as a teller at the Firestone Bank in Lisbon, as collection manager and as commercial accounts and loan officer at Bank One.
She graduated from Beaver Local High School in 1959 and from Kent State University-East Liverpool in 1982 with a degree in banking and finance. She completed various banking courses at Mellon Bank, Robert Morris Associates and the American Institute of Banking. A member and past president of the Quota Club, where she was serving as treasurer, and was recognized as Quotarian of the Year in 1997. She was president of the Columbiana County Bankers Association from 1988-89, active with the United Way of Southern Columbiana County and was a member of the board of the East Liverpool Area CIC and Business and Professional Women’s Association.
Besides her father, she is survived by her husband, Don Curran, whom she married Nov. 1, 1959; a daughter, Mrs. David (Cathy) Rhodes of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a son, Randy Curran, at home; Three sisters, Mrs. Leroy (Joyce) McLaughlin of rogers, Mrs. Len (Peggy) McLaughlin of Bethlehem, Pa., and Mrs. Jerry (Judy) Brown of Columbiana; and a brother, Joe Greenwood of Rogers.
The rev. Paul K. Watkins of the East Palestine Church of the Nazarene will conduct the services at 11 a.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.

NEW CUMBERLAND, W.VA.—Karen Jean Rice, 52, of New Cumberland, passed away, Thursday, January 25, 2007.
She was born on December 13, 1954 in Steubenville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Herman and Bessie (Yoho) Rice.
She formerly worked for Carriage Home Health as a nurses’ aide.
She was a member of the Virginia Avenue Church of Christ, the Chester VFW Auxiliary, the Chester American Legion Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order o the Moose of East Liverpool.
She is survived by two brothers, Dwayne Rice and wife, Bev, of Hanoverton, Ohio, and Dr. E. Lee Rice and wife, Cindy, of East Liverpool; two nephews, Timothy Rice and Andrew Rice, two nieces, Lori Walters and Abi Rice; and two great-nephews, Luke and Logan. She was also survived by her best friend, Sandy Renaud of New Cumberland.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at the Virginia Avenue Church of Christ of Chester, Evangelist Frank Higginbotham will officiate. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens of Newell, W.Va.

Steve (Rudy) Pekich, 68, of 33 8th St., Midland, died Tuesday at the Beaver County Medical Center after a frief illness.
He was born in Youngstown, Ohio, Jan. 30, 1905. He was retired from the conditioning mill at the Crucible Division of Colt Industries.
Mr. Pekich is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Pekich; a son, Peter Michael Pekich, stationed with the Navy at Virginia Beach, VA.; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Dorothy Ann) Huska of Midland, and a granddaughter.
Seervices will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the Schwerha Funeral Home by the Rev. Slobodan Pradanovich, pastor of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church. Burial will be in the Beaver Cemetery.

Mrs. Rushton, was born in Burslem, Staffordshire, England, and was a resident of East Liverpool for 20 years. Widow of Albert Thomas Rushton, she lived at 1945 Dresden Ave.
She is survived by a son, Joseph Rushton of East Liverpool; two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Oakes and Mrs. Marion Cox of East Liverpool; a sister, Harriett Baggley in England, and 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Salvation Army Citadel by Brigadier Kate Hillman. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Besides her daughter, Mrs. Lawton, she is survived by three brothers, Judson King of Lisbon, John King of Massillon, and Charles King of Englewood, Calif., four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 pm. from the Eells-Leggett Funeral Home by Rev. Paul T. Gerrand.
