NEWELL – Hartley S. Smith, 73, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004.
He was born Jan. 24, 1931, in Meadeville, W. Va., the son of the late Harris and Lillian Satterfield Smith.
He was a retired brick wheeler with the Glove Refactories, a member of the Apalachialn Folk Music Club and Protestant by faith.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty George and Janice Reed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Watkins Smith at home, a daughter, Mrs. Steven (Trudy) Hall of Newell; two grandchildren, Steven Hall II of East Liverpool and Melissa Hall of Columbiana; and one sister, Carole Booher of Newell.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens of Newell.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home.
