CALCUTTA – Smith Scott, 86, of Sprucevale Road, died Sunday, May 29, 2005, at 2.39 a.m. at the Medical Center, Beaver following a lengthy illness.
Born in West Union, W. VA., July 23, 1918, he was a son of he late Smith and Lydia Hupp Scott, Sr. A veteran of World War II, he was an M.P. serving in the U. S. Army.
A resident of this area most of his life, he worked as a millwright at the former Crucible Steel Company until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the St. Clair Avenue Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Scott at home, whom he married April 5, 1946.
A son survives, Mark Scott and his wife Elizabeth, of Columbiana as well as two grandchildren, Madgel Burbick of Austintown and Lael Scott and his wife Heather of Columbus. Four great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition, a sister survives, Ruth Gohring of Maitland, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Ray Scott on May 2, 1980, foru sisters and three brothers.
Friends may call Monday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Evangelist Will Montgomery of the church will officiate a funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens.
