WESTMINSTER, Md. – Ethel L. Shroades, 64, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at her residence.
Born Oct. 11, 1940, in Chester, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Blanche Shira Colbert. She was the wife of Stanley Shroades, her husband of 47 years.
Mrs. Shroades was a homemaker and also was self employed cleaning various doctor’s and dentist’s offices. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, yard work, flowers and walking.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Randall Shroades of Westminster; daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie and Carl Shank of Beaver Falls, Pa., and Anita and Herman Williams of Wellsburg, W. Va.; son, Scott Shroades of Gettysburg, Pa.; sister, Caroline Mendelson of New Cumberland, W. Va.; brothers, Don Colbert of St. Clairsville, Ohio and John Colbert of Sanford, Fla., grandchildren, Sharon, Vincent, Valerie, Cole, Sterling and Erika; and great-grandchild, Zachary. She was predeceased by brothers, Tom and Charles Colbert and sister, Mary Owens.
The family will receive friends at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Arner Funeral Chapel, 6o7 Carolina Ave., Chester on Tuesday, March 29 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Brian Kilbert. Interment will be in Shadow Lawn Cemetery in Chester.
Further visitation will be held at the Arner Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 28, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 .m.
