James “Jim” Luevano, 85, of New Cumberland passed away Friday, July 3, 2009.
He was a natie American Raramuri Indian, born March 17, 1924 in Roby, TX, a son of the late Anthony and Paula Naveretti Luevano. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Aiyana Luevano; three brothers, Vernon Luevano, Martin Luevano and Tony Luevano, and a sister, Francis Luevano.
Jim worked for Pusteri Excavating as an operation’smanager. He formerly worked for Sunset Volkswagen. He held memberships with the Paul Revere Masonic Lodge No. 162 and the Osiris Shriners of Colorado. He formed The Jimmy Luevano and his Orchestra big Band and the Blue Notes. He was known for his excellent saxophone playing. Jim received an outstanding music award from the Raramuri Indian Tribe.
He is survived by his wife, Lily Ann Booth Luevano, at home; A daughter, Christine (Ty) Withers of Wyoming; two son, James (Jennifer) Luevano II of Weirton and Mason M. (Kristi) Luevano of Australia; four grandchildren, Sarah, Seth, Chayton and Kiana; two additional daughters from a previous marriage, Francis Luevano Hambleton and Veronica Luevano Gregory of Colorado and a brother, Danny Luevano of California.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home. Interment followed at the New Cumberland Cemetery.
