Jessie Mae Cox Sparks
Died Feb. 9, 2004

CALCUTTA – Jessie Mae Cox Sparks, 87, formerly of Broad Street, died at 1 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at the Calcutta health Care Center, where she resided, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Hopewell, Va., Dec. 29, 1916, daughter of the late Eugene R. and Mildred Butler Cox, she was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and had lived in East Liverpool since 1953.
Her husband, William P. Sparks, whom she married in 1953, died Oct. 20, 2003. A daughter, Karen Ann Sparks Maggs, and three sisters, Mary C. Hudgins, Margaret Seogo and Mildred Jiles, also preceded her in death.
A daughter, Mrs. Robert (Jessie M.) Simballa of Lisbon, survives.
Two sisters, Mrs. George (Helen) Manges of Chesapeake, Va., and Mrs. Edith “Jean” Salsman of Norfold, Va., also survive.
There are two grandchildren, Richard Simballa and his wife Susan and David Simballa and his wife, Susi, all of Lisbon.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Dawson Funeral Home.
Fr. Bernard N. Gaeta will be celebrant of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
