Jean Moore, 72, of New Cumberland passed away at home after a ten year battle with brain cancer.
She was born August 17, 1936 in Hookstown, a daughter of the late Alvie and Faye (Cochran) McLaughlin. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judi Qualls; four brothers and two sisters.
Jean worked at Weirton Medical Center for 25 years as a respiratory therapy technician. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge #73. Jean enjoyed playing cars with family and friends, working in her flower beds and riding her Gator around their farm with her little dog Missy.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lawrence F. Moore, at home; two daughters, Elaine (Ed) Frey of Toledo and Louise (Stan) Simich of Weirton; a brother, Jim (Cheryl) McLaughlin of Georgetown; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the New Cumberland Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Pastors Doug Neavin and Vaughn Foster officiating. Interment followed at the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Georgetown.
