Janice M. Johnston

LISBON – Janice M. Johnston, 79, of DeSellem Road, formerly of St. George Street, , died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at The Robert E. Boyce Pavilion of East Liverpool East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 15, 1925, in Fez, W.Va., a daughter of the late Elza and Opal Cummings Adkins.
Janice was a homemaker and a member of the Pennsylvania Ave. United Methodist Church. She graduated from Hamlin High School in Hamlin, W.Va.
Her husband, James R. Johnston, preceded her in death, along with a brother, Wiser Adkins.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Mathias and her husband Fred of East Liverpool and Kathryn Show and her husband Bill of Lisbon; and five sisters and six brothers, Betty Raye of Lexington, N. C., Patty Miller of Chester, Dean Davis of Chester, Mary Bevington of Negley, Sue Warner of east Canton, Lynncol Adkins of Smithsferry, Woodrow Adkins of East Liverpool, Jack Adkins of Lisbon, James Adkins of Howard, Ohio, Elsa Adkins Jr. of Chester and John Adkins of Chester. In addition there are five grandchildren; Janice Johnson and her husband Adam, Ross Mathias and his wife Helen, Joseph Spooner, Mary Kay Hoppel and her husband Shane and Denise Mathias. There are also eight great-grandchildren; Carlynn Shields, Christopher Croxall, Michaella Mathias, Austin Spooner, Miles Mathias, Clayton Parker, Sabrina Hoppel and Jack Mathias.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, with Dough Barber officiating. Interment services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Ross Cemetery in Bolts Fork, Ky.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, where the family will be present form 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
