PROSPECT, Ohio – Karen Rae Roberts, 57, died at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at Mt Carmel West Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was born in East Liverpool Sept. 15, 1946, a daughter of the late Allen and Mary Wilson Downard.
She was formerly a beautician. She then worked as a pottery maker for Hoer Laughlin China Co. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Moose. She enjoyed going to the beach, playing with her grand kids, colleting elephant figurines and being a beautician.
She is survive by her husband, Richard Roberts of Prospect, whom he married in 1969; a daughter, Mr. Mary (Dave) Poling of Prospect; two stepdaughters, Cheryl L. Miley of Tampa, Fla., and Kim Kertzinger of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Arron and Jacob Poling; three step-grandchildren, Ray Miley, Kyle Rager and Misty Rager; two step-great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews, Lisa, Kim, Brian, Craig, Dave, John, Cathy, and Kenny;’ four sisters, Norma (LeRoy) Hoppel and Mary (Kenney) Anderson of Calcutta and Joyce (Bob) Swogger and Cindy (Kenny ) Grimm of Wellsville.
The Rev. David L. Hoffman will conduct services at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Gehm-Ballinger Funeral Home in Prospect. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
