Charles William Mechling

NEW CUMBERLAND – Charles William Mechling, 83, of Second Avenue, died Tuesday Nov. 21, 1995, at the West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
He was born in Colliers, W.Va., July 10, 1912, a son of the late Thomas L. and Suella Strain Mechling.
He was employed as an electrical foreman in the tin mill department at the Weirton Steel Co. He was a member of the New Cumberland Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge 22 Free and Accepted Masons, and the Senior Citizens Singing Group.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie M. Cooper Mechling, at home; a daughter , JoAnn Owings of Independence, Pa., a brother, Roy Mechling of New Manchester, four sisters, Florence Bridges and Willigene Minnis of North Carolina, Margaret Hayes of Weirton and Georgia Freshwater of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, two step grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The Rev. Sherrill Fritts will conduct services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Turley Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Cumberland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
