SALEM – Mrs. Molly I. McHenry, 83, of 608 ½ Woodland Ave., formerly of W. North Ave., East Palestine, died Friday at 9:04 p.m. at the Salem Community Hospital following a two-year illness.
She was born Feb. 4, 1903, in Delaware Township, Mercer County, Pa., a daughter of the late Samuel G. Schaible and Annabelle Thompson Schaible.
Mrs. McHenry resided in East Palestine from 1940 to October 1985. Many years ago, she had been employed as manager-bookkeeper of the Fred Wasser General Store at Fredonia, Pa., and she later taught at the elementary school in New Hamburg, Pa. She was graduated from Edinburg (Pa.) State Teachers College in 1923, and was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in East Palestine.
Her husband, Jesse T. McHenry, whom she married Sept. 29, 1926, died Feb. 2, 1985.
She is survived by three sons, Mervin E. McHenry of Springfield, Ohio, Leslie E. McHenry of Richmond, Va., and Victor L. McHenry of Hot Springs, Ark.; two daughters, Miss Mildred E. McHenry of Salem, with whom she resided, and Mrs. Aleta Scanlon of Salem; a brother, John I. Schaible of Mercer, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Alice Chisholm of Sandy Lake, Pa.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Dan K. Schomer of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana is to conduct services Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home in East Palestine. Burial is to be in Glenview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
