EAST LIVERPOOL – Richard “Buck” F. Mercer, 82, of Lisbon Street, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Lennyville, W.Va., Dec. 23, 1920, son of the late Joseph and Sylvia Starlin Mercer, he was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of East Liverpool and its Peffer Memorial Sunday School Class.
Nearly a lifelong resident of the area, he retired from Globe Brick, where he operated mining machinery.
An avid bowler, he also was an amateur photographer.
His wife, Sara Brooks Mercer, died May 5, 1986. A daughter, Dalene R. Rayle, died March 2, 2001.
A daughter, Mrs. Dan (Rebecca “Becky”) Allen of East Liverpool survives, along with a granddaughter, Heather Ann Allen, and a great-granddaughter, Brianna Nicole Allen, both of East Liverpool.
Friends may call Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
The Rev. Larry Hall of the church will conduct services at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park
