Services are scheduled Thursday for Ralph Mercer, 66, of Chaffin St., East Liverpool, who was pronounced dead Monday at 5:20 p.m. at City Hospital, where he had been taken by ambulance after he had been found lying in his yard. He had been ill two years.
He was born in Congo, W.Va., Aug. 2, 1920, a son of the late Charles Mercer and Catherine Weddel Mercer.
He was employed by the city in the sanitation department.
He is survived by three brothers, Raymond Mercer and Dale Mercer of East Liverpool and Charles Mercer of Louisiana; and three sisters, Evelyn Taylor of East Liverpool, Eva Heft of Akron, Ohio, and Shirley Valdez of Louisiana.
The Rev. Charles Taylor of the Friendship Gospel Temple is to conduct the services at 11 a.m. at the Martin Funeral Home.
Burial is to be in Long’s Run Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tonight.
