Robert Newton (Nute) Campbell, 92, of the Fox Nursing Home in Chester died there Sunday afternoon following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Campbell was born March 25, 1882, in Hancock County. He was retired from Weirton Steel Co. as a construction foreman. Previously he had worked in the oil fields in South America and Texas.
He was a past master of Masonic Lodge 22 in New Cumberland where he was a member for over 50 years, and a past high priest of Royal Arch Masons, Chapter 14, of New Cumberland. He also was a member of the Maskat Shrine of Wichita Falls, Tex., and the Worshipful Shrine of Lagrado in Steubenville. His wife, Ethel Steen Campbell, died in 1961.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. William (Margaret Jeanne) Sanker of Cincinnati; a son, William S. Campbell of New York City, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Turley Funeral Home at New Cumberland by Rev. Allen S. Fields, with a Masonic graveside service at the New Cumberland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 tonight and Tuesday until the time of the services.
