LISBON – Barbara J. Reed, 61, of Lisbon died on Tuesday July 7, 2009 at the Salem Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.
A daughter of the late Leland H. and Lillian D. Werling Reed, she was born on Sept. 7, 1947, in East Liverpool.
A member of the Chester First Christian Church, she graduated from the former Chester High School.
Reed was also very involved in the original grassroots movement opposing the construction of WTI.
Her companion of 30 years Frank Kertesz survives at home.
Also surviving are two brothers, Vic Reed and his wife Marian of Chester, and Bob Reed and his wife Lin of East Liverpool, and two sisters, Betty Bryan and her husband Dick of Chester, and Bertha Wells and her husband Denis of Mesa. AZ.
In addition a special niece Lisa Reed and her companion Rob Parsons also survive along with several other nieces and nephews, including, Victor Reed Jr., Duke Reed, Bobby Reed, Bruce Bryan, Marlynn Fenton, Lee Ann Bryan, Peggy Lascola, Margie Potts, Sue Nader, Beth Esparza, and Denise Novak.
Reed also leaves two special pets, Keisha and Otis.
Pastor Phil Fairchild will conduct services at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester where the family will be present to receive friends today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will follow the services at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.
