COLUMBUS, Ind. – Theodosia P. Mahan, 83, of Columbus died at 10:28 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at the Columbus Regional Hospital in Indiana.
Mrs. Mahan was born July 2, 1918, in East Liverpool, a daughter of he late Alwyn and Louise Scott Purinton.
Prior to World War II she worked as a lab Technician and a phlebotomist.
A member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Columbus, she graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1935 and furthered her education at Ohio State University from which she was graduated in 1939. She was a member of the Harrison Lake Country Club, the Whipporwill Garden Club and the Shakespeare Club and was active with the Republican Party and many other community projects.
Her husband, Robert W. Mahan, whom she married Feb. 19, 1943, passed away Nov. 26, 1993.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Margaret) Owens of Columbus, Ind., and Mrs. Robert (Louise) Knox of Ft. Myers, Fla.; a son, Robert W. Mahan Jr. of Columbus, five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. William L. (Virginia ) Smith III of East Liverpool; and one brother, Alwyn Purinton of East Liverpool.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Riverview Cemetery in East Liverpool with Rev. Steven MeKeown of St. Stephens Episcopal Church officiating.
Friends may call at the chapel one half-hour prior to the service, Tuesday.
The Dawson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
