EAST PALESTINE – Edna M. McGath, 78, of Short Street, died at 1:04 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Northside Hospital Medical Center in Youngstown following a two-month illness.
She was born in New Middletown Aug. 11, 1922, a daughter of the late William and Nona Rohrbaugh Knight.
She had operated Edna’s Restaurant in East Palestine and was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Chester T. McGath; two sons, Loraine “Butch” McGath of St. Clooud, Fla., and Tom McGath of East Palestine; a daughter, Joyce Blake of East Palestine; a brother, Kenny Knight of Columbiana; and four sisters, Millie Kaufman of New Middletown, Emma Barkley of East Palestine, June Barger of New Middletown and Delores Heberling of Petersburg; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Ronald Spore will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
