SALEM – Dale L. Mercer Sr., 79, formerly of Ambrose Avenue in East Liverpool, died at Blossom Health and Rehab Center Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, after an extended illness.
He was born in Newell May 5, 1923, a son of the late Charles and Kate (Waddell) Mercer.
He retired from Cook Motor Freight (formerly YELP Freight) in East Liverpool as a truck driver. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Mae Smith Mercer.
He is survived by a son, Dale L. Mercer Jr. of East Liverpool; two daughters, Janet Bragg and Mrs. Norman (Patty) Stearns of East Liverpool; two brothers, Charles Mercer of Chester and Roy Mercer of New Orleans; two sisters, Eva Heft of Canton and Shirley Mercer of New Orleans; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at the Eat Liverpool Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes Monday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Paul Sturm of Rainbow Ministries officiating.
Burial will be in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to the time of the services Monday.
