EAST LIVERPOOL – Margaret Slider Mercer, 72, of Edwards Street died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at Robert E. Boyce Pavilion following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Paden City, W. VA., Aug. 25, 1925, a daughter of the late John and Lucy Barcus Slider.
An area resident for more than 40 years, she was employed at Homer Laughlin China Co. as a brusher before retiring in 1988. She also worked at the Hot Dog Shoppe and Weirton Health Care Center. She was an honorary member of the Glass Molders Pottery Plastics & Allied Workers International Union.
Her husband, Charles E. Mercer, died Aug. 13, 1993. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Slider;’ and a granddaughter, Tabitha Godwin.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John (Sheila) Godwin of East Liverpool; a son, Charles D. Mercer of Wellsville; a grandson, Daniel Mercer, of East Liverpool, whom she raised; and two granddaughters.
The Rev. Tim Rohrbacher of the Campground Community Church will conduct the services at 10:30 Saturday at the Dawson Funeeral Home. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Part.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
