NEW MANCHESTER – Geneva K. Mercer, 73, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at Weirton Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 19, 1928, in New Cumberland, the daughter, of the late Clarence E. and Eva Bailey Lockett.
A graduate of New Cumberland High School, she retired as a glazer from Homer Laughlin China Co. She was s member of the New Cumberland Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary and was a Protestant by faith.
Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Mumford, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Mercer of New Manchester, whom she married in 1962; eight sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Barb Clark of New Cumberland, James and Ada Clark of New Manchester, William and Rosie Mercer of Kentucky, Richard and Earlene Mercer of New Cumberland, Charles and Milly Mercer of New Cumberland, Joe and Debbie Mercer of New Cumberland, Bob and Lee Mercer of Fairview, Pa., and David and Debbie Mercer of Erie, Pa.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Denny (Betty Anne) Oldaker of New Cumberland; a twin sister Genevera Crago of New Cumberland; 30 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a very special niece, Mrs. George (Twila) Beltram.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at the New Cumberland Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the New Cumberland Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 7 to 9 tonight and from 2 t 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home..
