Orpha Anderson, 87, of 361 Buckeye Ave., Wellsville, a former hot mill worker and potter, died Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Graystone Nursing Home in Wellsville where she had been a patient a year.
Mr. Anderson was born Jan. 17, 1880 in Jackson County, W. Va., a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Anderson. He had resided in Wellsville the greater part of his life. He worked at the former American Sheet and Tin Plate Co. in Wellsville and after it closed in 1932 he worked in local potteries. His wife, Mrs. Sadie Anderson, died July 16, 1957.
He is survived by two sons, James A. Anderson of East Liverpool R. D. and Charles Anderson of Parkersburg, W. Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Eynon (Ruth) Friess of Glenmoor; two brothers, Forest Anderson of Belleville, W. Va., and Walter Anderson of Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Victoria Kerr of Parkersburg, 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the MacLean Funeral Home in Wellsville by the Rev. Robert H. Schondelmayer of the Wellsville First Christian Church. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday afternoon and night.
