NEW MANCHESTER – Arthur W. Patterson, 78, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at Weirton Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born in Ripley, W.Va., July 3, 1923, a son of the late Jessie T. and Audell Bernice Conley Patterson.
He retired as a millwright in the blast furnace department at Weirton Steel Corp. He served with the U. S. Army and Navy during World War II and was a Protestant.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez M. “Kay” Patterson, and a son, Gregory E. Patterson.
He is survived by a son, Gary Patterson of New Cumberland; a daughter, Bernice Titus of New Manchester; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Mark Wilds will conduct services at 2 p.m. Monday at the Turley Funeral Home. Military graveside services will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory gardens in Newell.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
