Marblehead, Mass. – John J. “Jack” Doherty Jr., 57, of Chestnut Street, Marblehead, died early Friday morning, Aug. 24, 2001, in Salem Hospital. He was the husband of Helen (Pickering) Doherty.
Mr. Doherty was born in Marblehead, the son of the late Winifred F. (Carey) Doherty of Marblehead and the late John J. Doherty Sr.
A graduate of Marblehead High School, Jack worked as a journeyman electrician for IBEW No. 103 electrical union for 30 years. He also was a member of he former IBEW No. 259 of Salem, the Gerry 5 of Marblehead, a member of the former Elks in Marblehead and a member of the Marblehead Shipyard Association
Besides his wife, he is survived by cousins, Charlotte DeBoer of Ipswich, Carol Tremblay of Lynn, Christine Mahoney of Revere, Charles Carey and Peter Carey of Marblehead and Diane Brett of South Weymouth; as well as his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Pickering of East Liverpool; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Joyce and John Blanchard of Irondale and Mary and Terry McKnight of Newell; a brother-in-law, Steve Pickering of Costa Mesa, Calif.; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Robert and Patricia Pickering of East Liverpool. He was predeceased by a cousin, the late Catherine Westfall.
Funeral services will be held at the Berube and Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St., Salem, Mass., 1-(978)-744-2177. Burial will be in Waterside Cemetery in Marblehead Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001.
