LACROFT – Jack L. Poole, 71, of 7th Avenue, died at 1:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at the Medical Center in Beaver, Pa., following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Poole was born in East Liverpool Jan. 1, 1930, a son of the late Joseph Poole and Elva Bennett Poole. He spent all of his life in the East Liverpool area and worked for the former Crucible Steel Co. in Midland, until 1971. He then began work for the S. H. Bell Co. in East Liverpool, where he was employed for 24 years until his retirement in 1995.
Mr. Poole served in the U. S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean conflict being stationed in London, England, for three years. He attended Glenmoor Presbyterian Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 374. He also was an active member of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association, the Blue and White Touchdown Club, the ELHS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, the East Liverpool Rebound Club and was a devoted fan of all Potter sports teams.
A devoted father and husband, Mr. Poole is survived by his wife, Janet L. Miller Poole, whom he married Oct. 24, 1952; three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Kathy) Hannan of Wheeling, W.Va., Mrs. Steve (Sandy)Cunningham and Mrs. Rick (Gail) Angus of East Liverpool and a son, Stephen L. Poole of East Liverpool.
Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Joanne Stewart of East Liverpool; two brothers, Robert W. Poole of East Liverpool and James L. Poole of New Matamoras, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Matthew S. Cunningham of Columbus, Stacey A. Davis, Shaun S. Poole and Brandon L. Cunningham of East Liverpool, Alison L. Hanna of Wheeling, Ashley M. Angus of East Liverpool, Emily J. Hanna of Wheeling, Chelsey L. Angus and Alisha D. Angus of East Liverpool; and two great-grandchildren, Kayleigh M. and Kenzie M. Davis of East Liverpool.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dennis Braun officiating. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the church where a luncheon will be served. In lieu of Flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Jack Poole Family Scholarship Fund c/o P. O. Box 986, East Liverpool, Ohio 443920.
The Dawson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
