ILION, N.Y. – Howard Henry Schlaegel, 89, of West Main Street, formerly of Lisbon, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at Heritage Health Care Center in Utica, N. Y.
He was born in Tipton, Iowa, April 27, 1912, a son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Schlaegel.
He worked as a millwright with Frito Lay and attended the Church of God of Salem at one time.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Robinson Hughes Schlaegel, and a son, Daniel Schlaegel.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Martin (Elaine) Knauss of Rome, N. Y.; a son David G. Schlaegel of Yorkville, N.Y.; two step-sons, Lewis Hughes of Houston, Texas, and LeRoy Hughes of New Orleans, La.; a sister, Mary Brown of Dixon, Ill.; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The Rev. David G. Schlaegel and Pastor Francis Burkhart will conduct services at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Eells-Leggett Funeral Home in Lisbon. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the services Saturday.
