EAST LIVERPOOL – Laurence J. “Larney” “Red” McGarrity, 62, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001.
He was born in Dunbar, Pa., Jan. 3, 1939, a son of the late John Thomas and May C. Jackson McGarrity.
He worked as a maintenance worker with NewChem Inc, in Newell and served with the U. S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sue Burns McGarrity, and a son, Laurence Joseph McGarrity II.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Tammie Sue) Darby of Hamilton, Ohio, and Beth Anne Mays of New Brighton, Pa.; a sister, Sis “Florence” Sosack of Indusrty; and eight grandchildren.
The Rev. Fr. John M. Jordan of St. Blaise Parish will conduct a Blessing service at 2 p.m. Monday at the D. L. Williams Funeral Home. American Legion Post 481 Honor Guard will conduct full military honors graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery in Industry.
Friends may call a the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
