LISBON – Herman Elmer “Cy” Wellman, 83, of Maple Street, died at 4:20 a.m. Friday, Aug 24, 2001, at home following a brief illness.
He was born in Williamson, W.Va., April 2, 1918, a son of the late Baz and Maggie Ellen Wilson Wellman.
He was the deputy sheriff for Columbiana County until retiring and was Protestant. He served with the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. David (Linda E.) Todd, Mrs. George (Charolette) Davis-Lones and Shirley A. Mornez of Lisbon; a son, David W. Wellman of East Liverpool; five sisters, Mrs. Paul (Alice) Weaver of North Lima, Ohio, Mrs. Dee (Ernestine) Bush of New Springfield, Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) Smith, Mrs. Crawford (Louise) Detwiler of Columbiana and Mrs. Enos (Anna) Detwiler of Austintown; three brother, Lowell /Wellman of Rogers, John “Pete” Wellman of North Lima and Lonnie Wellman of Austintown; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carol Lynne Wellman.
Private graveside services will be held at Lisbon Cemetery at a later date.
No visitation is planned.
The Eells Leggett Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
