EAST LIVERPOOL – James D. Adkins, 55, of Ohio Avenue died at 5:14 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 1999, in the City Hospital Emergency Room after becoming ill at home.
He was born in Yolyn, W.Va., Feb. 9, 1944, a son of Delphia Ferrell Adkins of Hamlin, W.Va., and the late Bernie Adkins.
He had lived in East Liverpool since 1966. He was employed at American Steel in Alliance for 33 years, last working on Saturday.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Thelma J. Askins, whom he married July 20, 1964; four daughters, Sheila Sage and Mrs. John (Crystal) Baker of East Liverpool, Mrs. Daniel (Jennifer) Pucci of Industry and Wendi Adkins, at home; two sisters, Freda Adkins and Mrs. Coney (Delores)) Adkins of East Liverpool; four brothers, Harold D. Adkins, Ralph E. Adkins, Donald R. Adkins and Robert G. Adkins of East Liverpool; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Allen Adkins, who died in infancy; and two brothers, Kenneth D. Adkins and Charles E. Adkins.
Burial will be in Adkins Cemetery in Hamlin.
Friends may call at the Dawson Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to9 p.m Tuesday.
