Austin R. Gregory, 75, of Chester, passed away Thursday, March 26, 1998 at St. Frances Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born July t, 1922 at Holly, WV, the son of the late Issac B. and Alice (Frame) Gregory. He was preceded in death by his wife June, six brothers and two sisters.
A army veteran of World War II, he served in the European Theater. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
He retired in 1976 form the Hancock County School System. He also built clocks. He was a member He of the Chester First United Methodist Church where he was an usher and trustee for many years. He was a member of the Chester American Legion Post #121 and Chester V.F.W. Post #6450.
Surviving are two sons, Benny Gregory of New Manchester and Buddy Gregory of ?Chester; four daughters, Mrs. Nancy (Bruce) Grimm of Wellsville, OH, Mrs. Beth (Sam) Moore and Mrs. Shelba (Gary) Kirkbride, both of Chester and Mrs. Debbie (Mike)
Ambrose of Georgetown, PA; four sisters, Evelyn Davis, Athens, AL., Hattie Gillispie, Newell, Nelva Squires, Flatwoods, WV and Margorie Fae Bickle, Columbus; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, March 30, 1998 at the Stockant Gibson Funeral Home, Flatwoods. Interment was made in the Heaters Cemetery, Heaters, WV. Arner Funeral Chapel, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the American Heart Assoc.
