Martha Elinor (Ellie) Staley, 78, formerly of Steubenville, and New Manchester passed away Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at her daughter’s residence in Sheffield Lake, Ohio following a short illness.
She was born June 16, 1919. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Richard M. Staley and one son, Richard Mark Staley
She was a registered nurse who worked for the public Health Department for 25 years. She also served in the Naval Nurse’s Corps during World War II.
Surviving are two daughters, Gretchen M. Barcus of Pittsburgh and Mary Bublik of Sheffield Lake, Ohio; one brother Paul Joseph Curran of Carmel, IN; one sister, Nancy McArdle of Shrevesport, LA; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held on March 17, 1998 at 5:30 p.m. at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain, Ohio. The most Reverend Father Christian Moore will be the celebrant.
Mrs. Staley had donated her body to the Human Gift Registry for education, research and service in medicine.
