NEGLEY – Mathew H. Dailey,80, of Carmel Achor Road, died at 3:20 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2003 at the Salem Community Hospital following a long illness.
He was born July 4, 1923, in Unity, a son of James and Lyda Blazer Dailey.
He had been employed in the maintenance department at the former Metropolitan Brick Co. in Negley and had served with the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the former Achor Valley Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty M. Guy Dailey; four daughters, Madelon Slagle of Rogers, Diane Risinger of Negley, Joyce Hodge of Frostproof, Fla., and Debra Clipse of Negley, a son, Ronald J. Dailey of East Palestine; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda L. Dailey.
The Rev. Thomas Hughes of the Bible Brethren Fellowship will conduct services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Van Dyke Swaney Funeral Home in East Palestine. Burial will be in Achor Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the combined group of the VFW Post 4579 and American Legion Post 31 of East Palestine.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
