John J. Vinci, Sr., 63, of Chester passed away Sunday, March 29, 1998 at the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
He was born March 30, 1934 in East Orange, NJ a son of the late Oresto and Philmina (Monti) Vinci. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Allyson Nichole Reed.
He was currently serving as First District Councilman for Chester.
He was plant manager of the Newell Company for 17 years and was also employed at Homer Laughlin China Company. He was a member of the United Methodist Church were he was a choir member and served on the Pastoral Relations Committee.
He was the founding member of the National Doorknob tossing Assoc., active in the local Fish organization, a member of the Mountaineer Barbershop Quartet and a member of the Chester Lion’s Club.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Ann Huff Vinci, two sons, John J. Vinci, Jr. of Hookstown, PA and Michael E. Vinci, Calcutta, OH; five Daughters, Mrs. Linda (Daniel) Vinci, New Cumberland, Sharyn Vinci Shmigal, Chester, Mrs. Michelle (Wayne) Pelliter, Boca Raton, FL., Mrs. Mellisa (Craig) Reed of New Manchester and Mrs. Jennifer (Tom) Webster, New Cumberland; one brother, Robert Vinci, two sisters, Mrs. Gloria (William) Barrows and Mrs. Adele (Steven) O’Remus, all of New Jersey; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held on Wednesday, April 1, 1998 at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Sherman Davidson officiating. Interment was made at Locust Hill. Arner Funeral Chapel, Inc, was in charge of funeral arrangements.
