Robert Otis Murray, 92, of Sonoma, California, formerly of Chester passed away Wednesday, May 6, 1998.
He was the son of the late William A. and olive (Ewing) Murray.
He was well known as an avid gardener, and customers returned every year to buy his prized strawberries. He was a member of Ironworkers Local #549 of Wheeling for 61 years and American Legion Post 0121 of Chester, he served in World War II in the U.S. Army Railroad Battalion #734 as a Staff Sergeant and as a young man worked for eight years in the Michigan Oil Fields.
Surviving are his wife, Helen (Pugh) Murray; her daughter, Kaye Sandbek of Sonoma, CA; his step-daughter, Audrey Goppert of Plano, TX and her children Paula Wilder of Plano and Doug Goppert of Curango, Co; and by his sisters Elsie Dietz and Sarah Riggs both of Salem, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held on May 20, 1998 at 1:00 p.m. at Fairview Presbyterian Church in New Manchester.
