Clyde E. “Red” Sampples, 73, of Chester passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009 at home.
He was born in Barbour County, WV on May 9, 1935, son of the late Herbert and Linda Poling Samples. He was also preceded in death by two children, Barbara and Gregory Samples; a brother, Jimmy Samples; and two sisters, Nancy Samples and Thelma Crouse.
Clyde retired in 1982 from the former Crucible Steel in Midland where he was a foreman. He served as an active member of the Chester Volunteer Fire Department for many years. A Christian by faith, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. As an aid sports fan, he loyally followed the West Virginia Mountaineers
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lothry Samples, who lovingly cared for him at home during his illness; three sons, Tom Samples, of Manassas, VA, and his sons, Josh and Heremy; Don (Sandy) Samples of Newell, and their sons Tyler and Luke and Jeff (Darlene) Samples and their sons Jason and Kyle of St Coulud, FL’ a daughter, Tammy (Dale) Dudgeon of Reader, WV and their daughters, Marah and Tessa; two brothers, Karl (Judy) Samples of East Liverpool and Ray Samples of Jacksonville, Fl; two sisters, Rugh Crim of Bridgeport, Wv and Jane Rogers of Pontiac, MI.
Services were held Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Phil Fairchild officiating. Interment followed at the Locust Hill Cemetery.
