LEETONIA – Roy G. Arter, 79, of state Route 164, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at home following a brief illness.
He was born in Lisbon Sept. 17, 1921, a son of the late Henry Wilbur and Bessie Bartholow Arter.
He owned and operated Arter Electric before retiring and was a member of the St. Jacob’s United Church of Christ. He served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Artis Sanor Arter; five daughters, Mrs. William (Penny) Robinson of Madison, Ohio, Mrs. James (Candy) Steele of Leetonia, Leslie Arter of Lisbon, Mrs. John (Pam) Armstrong of Ball Ground, Ga., and Linda Helke of Elyria, Ohio; six sons, Ronald G. Arter of Leetonia, Jeffrey L. Arter of Lisbon, Bradley S. Arter of Canton, Ga., Scott E Arter of Lisbon, Darryl Z. Aikens of Salem and Dennis L. Aikens of Leetonia; a sister, Edythe Hornbeck of Alliance; 18 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Herbert E. DeLong will conduct services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lisbon Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Eells-Leggett Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and at the Church one hour before the service Saturday.
