Harold “Jack” Masters, 83, of New Cumberland passed away Monday, January 19, 2009
He was born February 2, 1925 in Clarksville, PA, a son of the late Pierce and Nancy (White) Masters. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Merle Masters and two sisters, Amelia Masters and Rosemary Vitalune.
Jack was retired from Weirton Steel Corporation where he worked as a pipe fitter. He was a member of the Tomlinson Run church of Christ. A World War II U. S. Army veteran, he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Jack was an avid bowler and a spirited outdoorsman.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nelda Rose (Hostutler) Masters, at home; six children, Gary Masters of Weirton, Pam Jones and Jack Masters, both of New Cumberland, Harold G. Masters of New Manchester, Kathy Hoge of Spokane, WA and Ben Master of Sewickley, PA: two sisters, Cecyle Klaphake of Cecil, PA and Joan Masters of Champion, OA; two brothers, Earl Masters of Ohioville, PA and George Masters of Rachel, WV; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 23, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Turley Funeral Home with Minister Paul Blake officiating. Military graveside services followed at Mill Cemetery in Georgetown.
