John Leslie “Jack” Carson, 86, of New Cumberland passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the ‘Weirton Medical Center.
He was born October 15, 1923 in New Cumberland, a son of the late Harry O. and Emma (Wilson) Carson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite D. (Clark) Carson; two brothers, Robert Lee and James Hubert Carson; and two sisters, Iris Gray and Ethelberta Shaw.
Jack was a retired teamster having worked for Tom’s Express. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II and a Protestant by faith. He was a member of the Appalachian Music Group; played on the Senior’s Pool Team at the Hancock County Senior Center; belonged to Country Friends and golfed at Pleasant Hills Golf Course.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Kay (Tom) Keenan of New Cumberland; two sons, Harry A. (Norma) Carson of New Cumberland and John Richard (Joann) Carson of New Manchester; two ‘grandsons, Brian (Beth) Carson of Beaver and Mark Carson of New Cumberland; two granddaughters, Emilie (Jerome) Jackson of Columbus, OH and Linda (Richie) Soos of Berkeley Springs, WV; three great-grandsons, Marcus Jackson, Josiah Jackson and Issac Carson, a great granddaughter, Alison Carson and his special companion, Ruth Elliot of Weirton.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Turley Funeral Home. Military Graveside services followed at the Mill Creek Hill cemetery in Hookstown.
