LISBON – Wilton t. “Whitey” McElroy, 71, of Glasgow Road, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at home following a brief illness.
He was born in Claibourne, Ohio, March 2, 1930, a son of the late Dwight and Agnes Thompson McElroy.
He worked as a supervisor at the First Energy Sammis Plant before retiring and was a member of the Wellsville First Christian Church.
He is survived by his wire, Ruth Patterson McElroy; three sons, Dennis McElroy of Westlake, Ohio, Bradley McElroy of Stow, Ohio, and Michael McElroy of Lisbon; two daughters, Debbie Herda on Wellsville and Denise Baker of Lisbon; four stepsons, Rober Mick of Wellsville Jerry Mick of Lisbon, Rick Mick of East Liverpool and Mark Mick of Ravenna, Ohio; three stepdaughters, Debbie Mick of Lisbon, Mrs. George (Becky) Crews of Shiloh, Ill., and Mrs. Frank (Patty) Daniels of Alliance; two brothers, James “Red” McElroy and Ernie McElroy of Richwood, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. William (Dottie) Davis of Richwood; 27 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Howard Chartier will conduct services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin –MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Homes from noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
