Opal W. Howell, 80, of Alicia Arms in Chester passed away on January 22, 2009
Opal was born on February 5, 1928 in St. Marys, WV to the late Carl and Roberta Yost Harding.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Phillip Howell; twos sisters, Elizabeth Sweat and Gladys Harding; and stepson Ronnie Howell.
A devoted member of the Newell Nazarene Church, she once had worked at Homer Laughlin China. She retired from the Hancock County Board of Education where she worked as custodian.
Opal is survived y two children Bill Howell of Steubenville, and Sandy (Dave) Osborne of Lima, OH; two brothers, Donald (Wanda) Harding of Chester , and Carl Harding of St. Marys; four sisters, Velma Miller of Harrisville, WV, Sharon Beyner of Millersburg, OH, Beulah Gallager of Elk City, OK and Norma Betts of Vienna, WV; five grandchildren, Denise (Jim) Noland, Christy Osborne and her Companion Jon Boyd, and Michelle, Douglas and Jeffery Howell; four great –grandchildren, Kay Lynn, Shawn and Lauren Noland, and Tommy Boyd.
In addition she leaves a special niece, Sharon Dennis as well as several other nieces and nephews, and her loving care givers, Debby Ludwig, Ruth, Karline Barnett, and Chris Summers.
Rev. Everett Clay conducted services on Monday January 26, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Interment followed at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.
