Catherine A. “Kate” Saracco
Died Dec. 28, 2003
WELLSVILLE –Catherine A. “Kate” Saracco, 85, went to be with the Lord at 8:09 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 29, 1918, in Wellsburg, W.Va., the daughter of the late Vincent and Rosalie Macalouse Amato.
Catherine served her Lord as a faithful member of the House of Prayer in Calcutta. She also was a member of the Wellsville Sons of Italy Lodge. Kate was a self-employed hairdresser for years in Wellsville.
Besides her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her husband, Constantine “Keets” Saracco, on Jan. 2, 2000. They were married Jan. 18, 1938.
Survivors include two daughters, Rosalie Heddleston and her husband, Richard of Wellsville, with whom she resided, and Mary Lou Hull and her husband Robert of East Liverpool; three sisters, Mary Collins of Bueana Park, Calif., Frances DiMarzio of Las Vegas, Nev., and Helen Checkler of Columbus; a daughter-in-law, Cyd Saracco of East Liverpool; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren
Predeceased relatives also include her son, Donato “Danny” Saracco on April 24, 2003; her sisters, Phyllis Amato, Virginia Schortino, Louise Disilvia and Rosalie Castilucci; her brothers, Frank Amato, John Amato, Peter Amato and Frank Amato; and a great-grandson, Noah Pouliot in 1997.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Roberts Funeral Home Annex at 613 Main St., Wellsville, with Pastor Mary Lou Hull officiating. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Wellsville.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to8 p.m. today at the funeral home annex.
Our mother and friend brought joy into our lives and will be greatly missed.
