David Raymond Young

SALINEVILLE – David Raymond Young, 74, of State Route 164, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at East Liverpool Convalescent Center No. 2, following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 12, 1929, in Ripley, W.Va., a son of he late Aruther A. and Ida Ozella Young. He spent most of his life in the Hammondsville area.
He was a retired mechanic and tile cutter for the H. K. Porter and Summitville Tile, respectively, with a combined total of 34 years of service, retiring in 1992.
Mr. Young was a graduate of Ripley High School and member of the Pine Grove Methodist Church of Hammondsville.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly J. Darrah Young, whom he married Aug. 22, 1947; a daughter, Betty Paz and her husband Quintin G. of Salineville; a son, David L. Young of Chester; a nephew whom he raise, William Drake of Salineville; five brothers, Aruther J. Young, Delano Young, Rockford Dwight Young, Delford Young and Ronnie Jackson, all of West Virginia; a sister, Regina Young of West Virginia; four grandchildren Charles E. Sayre Jr., Edward Scott Sayre, David Jeremy Young and Juan Carlos Paz; and three great-grandchildren, Charles E. Sayre III, Carrie Lynn Sayre and Cori Elizabeth Sayre.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Falford Campbell and Opha Campbell.
Services will e at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wellsville Chapel of he Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Smith of the River Church officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Wellsville.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Wellsville Chapel on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
